We are the Coro dos Amigos do Museu de São Brás which is a bit of a mouthful but reveals the choir’s origins; the result of a joint initiative by our first maestro, Walter Sulzer, and the Amigos do Museu do Trajo. We sing both sacred and secular music - predominately classical, and are presently working on a variety of pieces for the next two planned concerts - one on April 4th in Tavira as part of the ‘Music In Churches’ event and the other on June 27th in the Museum in S.Brás.

These include - Dvorak’s Eja Mater, Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Tchaikovsky’s The Crown of Roses, Handel’s Hallelujah Amen and, as it is the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, Elegischer Gesang.

As with so many choirs, and perhaps particularly for a classical choir, recruitment can be difficult. We are always happy to hear from prospective new members. Singing classical music in harmony is something everyone can enjoy, as long as you can sing in tune. Previous musical knowledge is not required. The choir uses midi files, and other ways of helping members learn new music, as not everyone can read a score, nor is this necessary.

Why not give us a try? See the Contacts section of the website for details of how to get in touch.
